TURKEYS GOING - DEER COMING

 
Turkeys at dawn.

I wanted to post something today a I am waiting to get into my new house. On the way to work I spied this flock of turkeys FAR across the field in the early light and on the way home I spotted a herd of deer at dusk also WAY across a field. Sorry about the quality it is hard getting a shot with full telephoto in low light holding the camera in my hand, at least for me.

Well I’m back…sort of. Due to circumstances beyond my control we have been delayed for a few days. So, since my PC is still hooked up I might as well post a photo. This is a photo of my cat Phineas that I photo shopped a while ago to look like a painting. Well here you go. Click on the photo to blow up...the larger it gets the more it looks like a painting

SAYING GOODBYE TO THE OLD HOMESTED

 
I will be moving in a few days and will be off-line for a day or so. I just wanted to share some photos of my house, I guess in a way of saying goodbye. I will be taking photos of the new house and new town. It's just 10 minutes down the road so I am not straying too far. See you in a few days.

Here are some cattails getting ready to send their seeds to the winds to make more cattails. Is a cattail seedling called a kittentail?

THE CHAMBERLIN-BURR DAY HOUSE

 
This house is next to Mark Twain’s and Harriet Beecher Stowe’s houses. It was originally built by Franklin Chamberlain, building was complete in 1884. It was bought be Willie Burr and after his wife’s death it was bought by Katharine Seymour Day, grand-niece of Harriet Beecher Stowe.

SILENT SPRING

 
This photo is of what is left of some sunflowers after a long hard winter; taken on a cold foggy morning. It is the time before life begins anew in the spring. The time when the plants give of themselves to replenish the soil to start the cycle of life again. 

CHRISTO'S?

 
Could this be another one of Christo's creations? I don't think so. I saw this silt cloth across this big field and it reminded me of one of Christo's creations. In case you don't know him he is the guy that surronded an island with pink cloth and other things for art sake. 

HELP WANTED

Does anyone know of a Dial Up ISP that they would recommend? I am moving(details later) and Broadband is not available in the area (no cable or DSL); and that inhales deeply with pursed lips. Any ideas?

MAILBOX PROTECTOR

 
A lot of people put boards like this on the left side of their mailboxes to protect them from the snowplow. Some, like this one, are painted with various themes. I guess this person is a big fan of Castaway. 

EAGLE ON THE GREEN

  
Windsor, CT - This eagle is on the green in Windsor, CT. It is dedicated to the Patriots of Windsor. The wings span is about six feet across.

Sorry for not posting yesterday, Blogger was giving me all kinds of trouble. It just now started to work (8:40 pm Wednesday).

The Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee House

 
Windsor, CT - The Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee House is a 15 room Georgian Colonial that was built in 1765. The house can be toured (see link below).The first floor contains medical instruments and pharmaceutical recipes used by a country doctor.

I took a photo of this plaque that was on a bridge that crossed the Farmington River in Windsor. The bridge was non-descript but the plaque was memorable. 

OLDEST TOWN IN CONNECTICUT

 
Marquis proclaiming Windsor is the Oldest Town in Connecticut and darn proud of it! 

MORE GOATS

 
I took a side road home and drove past a field with these two goats in it. I guess I'm into photographing goats this week. So, I stopped and lucky for me they came up to the fence to see what I was doing. Aren't they cuter than a speckled pup under a red wagon?
