THE FRIENDLY BARBER SHOP

West Springfield, MA - I was walking around West Springfield looking for some interesting things to photograph and I saw this barber shop. It looks like it was there for years and other buildings were built around it. I just wonder what they mean by traditional and modern haircutting? With or without gel? That reminds me of a story. When I was in college I had the 70's long hair, well more of a bush than long. My parents were coming to visit me so I decided to get a haircut. My father always cut my hair so this was the first time I had been to a barber. The barber asked if I wanted it styled? Not knowing any better I said OK. Remember this was the 70's so I ended up with polyester hair, it was crisp. Well that did not last long, I never liked gel or spray. My thinking is if I need any of those things to keep my hair in place the barber did a bad job.

MILK PRICE

I saw this milk price in the window of this pharmacy and was thinking that in the future someone will look at this and think how low the price is.

Simsbury, CT - Last Sunday I took the kayak out on a flat section of the Farmington River. It was a very hot a humid day and a quick dip afterward was very enjoyable.

"a" nest

OK, I'm scraping a little here for something to post. I took this photo of a bird that built a nest in the "a" of a sign; ""a" nest" get it? Well, I am my own best audience.

SIMSBURY FLOWER BRIDGE

Simsbury, CT - I drive near this bridge every morning so one day I decided to stop and take a few photos. I took a photos of this bridge a few years ago but it is always beautiful so it is worth another look.

Here is the view from the side.

On one end of the bridge is a donation box if you would like to contribute to the upkeep.

This flower box had a flag in it adding more color.

BILL STAINES

Winchester Center, CT - Last week I went to a Bill Staines concert in the Congregational Church on the Winchester Center Green. He was supposed to be on the green but the weather did not cooperate. My last house was on the green diagonally across from the church.

Bill Staines is a folk singer from New Hampshire and has been singing around the country for the last 35 years. He will be back in Winchester Center on July 11, 2009. So if you are around stop by to see him, you will not be sorry.

The Account of my death has been greatly exaggerated...

OK, I stole that title from Mark Twain. But I have been away from blogging for a while. Here I am wearing my "Survivor" shirt, "Tastes Like Chicken". It supposed to look like I was lost in the woods. OK, just pretend. (looks like I have not missed many meals during the time off).

Here is what I have been up to. I got a job working for a large insurance company on a contract to hire basis creating an Executive Dashboard using Xcelsius(dashboarding software). Due to being on the contract I was unable to make my annual pilgrimage to Alaska...oh well there is always next year.

Sophie is holding her own, see her having fun above. I previously thought that she had an enlarged heart. That is only half true, she has a mass on her heart that the vet thinks might be cancer. Other that being very tired she is doing OK.

The acupuncture is having fantastic results on Thatcher. He can get up on slippery floors by himself, he can walk down stairs, he stopped dragging his feet, and stopped falling down. He is back to his old self harassing Sophie and Preston the cat. We hope that he can continue his good health. (For new readers he has Hydrocephalis(water on the brain)).

I will try to keep up with my postings, I miss it.
