Donkey in B/W

Any consistant reader of my blog knows I like black and white photos. Well, here is another of a donkey I took yesterday. Somehow it just looks so much better in black and white to me.

Can't you picture this donkey with an old miner getting ready to dig for silver in Nevada? It's fun to imagine with photos!

MAPLE HILL FARMS - MILK BOTTLE

I took this photo this afternoon in front of the Maple Hill Farms in Bloomfield, CT. Maple Hill is a dairy that bottles milk. This bottle is about five feet high and I think it is made of cement. I think it looks kind of cool.

WHICH WAY IS UP?

I took this photo a few days ago at a pond that was very still. I got a great reflection...the photo is actually upside down. Posted by Picasa

BOOT PLANTERS ON THE WALL

These boots on this stone wall are actually planters. They collect these old boots and put plants in them for the summer. The boots on the other hand are on the wall all year.

BIG MOSS

I took this photo a few days ago and not knowing exactly what kind of plant it is I will call it "Big Moss" because that is what it looks like. It is about 3-4" high and is kind of soft.

WESTERN MASS ELECTRIC #16

On the weekend days I put some of my "different" photos. My readership drops off considerably on the weekends so I put some of the "other" photos I take to see if they get any response. I guess a good number of my readers cruise on in at work. Hey, if the other "Bill Owens" can become a famous photographer taking photos of the suburbs in the 1970's...who knows. Go to the other Bill Owens The other Bill Owens and I have more simularities than just taking photos; remind me to tell you some time.  Posted by Picasa

ROBIN IN THE WOOD

This is a photo of a Robin I took a few days ago. I like it because it is not the usual robin on the lawn photo. It has a different look in the woods.

THE GOOSE'S SECRET PLACE

I went for a walk in a small state forest in Simsbury, CT and came upon this goose swimming in a pond. I really like this photo, it seems like we are spying on him in his secret place.

THIS CAN'T BE GOOD

I saw these vultures and a crow in someone's front yard yesterday; I didn't see anything dead. I hope it's not a bad omen. Posted by Picasa

FLOWERING TREES AT WORK

These are trees just outside of where I work. We have a nice location to work, trees, squirrels, lots of grass, and even a river(small stream) that flows in back of the building.

MY ROAD

This is the road I live on. As you can see it is not exactly a super highway, and we like it that way. I was trying to find one of my dogs that went to visit the neighbor's dogs and while I was walking down the road to find her I noticed this view and had to go back to the house to get my camera. Luckily my dog had come back home through the woods so I was able to get this shot without having to find her first.

EASTER EGGS

This is a basket of full of real eggs, flowers planted in little plastic eggs, and candles that our new neighbor brought over yesterday. The eggs were from their chickens and the paper egg was drawn by one of her foster children. What a lovely and thoughtful gift.

RIVER ON THE TOWN LINE

I stopped on the way home a few days ago and took this photo of a river that is on the town line between Granville and Tolland. I can't wait until things calm down and I can get to taking photos on a more regular basis. I've also noticed that the quality of the posted photos has gone down since I had to switch to dial-up. They look fine on my computer but lose a lot on the way to the blog.

TOLLAND MA TOWN HALL

This is our town hall, I think it is the biggest building in town. Now you have to remember that there are only about 425 people in town. I'm pretty sure it is used as an activity center also. I just looked at the town web page and noticed that the Assistant to the Selectman, Treasurer, and Tax Collector is the same person; and the Town Clerk and Chair of the Board of Assessors is the same person also. I was talking to the former Selectman and he told me that since I was moving to Tolland I would have to decide what Committee I would be on??? Aaahhhh, small town life.

CHURCH ON THE GREEN

Tolland, MA - We I am a little late posting some photos of Tolland but I have been busy getting my house ready to sell. So the only time I have to take photos is on my way to work. Anyway, here is the church that sits on the green, to tell you the truth I don't think they even have services here anymore. I will have to get back to you on that.

LION'S HEAD

Sorry I haven't posted much in the last week or so, it's kind of hard when your PC is in a box. Also, I have been real busy with the move. I hope to get some photos of my new town tomorrow if all goes well. But in the mean time take a look at this lion head from a fountain on the New Haven, CT green that I took a while ago.

OUR NEW HOME

This is a photo of the new digs just after a quick snow squall. It is so quiet and peaceful here, not much traffic, maybe because we are on a dirt road. I was under the impression that the town had a population of about 900, I was misinformed, it is about 425. The joke around here is that you have to come off the mountain every once in a while to get supplies and vittles. Well, it is not that bad, only about a twenty minute drive to the grocery store; ever since the general store closed. We ran into a problem selling our house, you see the buyer backed out at the last minute so if anyone would like a beautiful home in the foothills of the Berkshires, let me know. Posted by Picasa
