A DAY ALONG THE BANTAM RIVER

Litchfield, CT - Today my wife dropped me off at the Bantam River in Litchfield to do a little kayaking while she had to do some things a few towns away

There were a few people on the river with their kayaks. These two women were out enjoying the day.

No these people are not walking on water, they are walking over the swamp on a wooden walkway. This part of the Bantam River and this pond, Little Pond, are part of the White's Woods Conservation area.

Hot Babes
As I passed these women while they taking a break one of them asked if I would like a pretzel, I explained that I had to get back to the pick up spot where my wife would be waiting for me. Just as I passed them I saw a few bluebirds, so I stopped to see if I could get a photo. They flew away before I was able to get the photo so I went back and asked if they would not mind if I took their photo. One of them said that if I was late just tell your wife that I stopped to take a photo of some hot babes...that is exactly what I did.

BEAVERS IN LITCHFIELD

Litchfield, CT - I was driving through "Whites Woods" a nature preserve in Litchfield when I noticed something making waves in the river. I stopped and saw this big beaver swimming. I took a few photos and then I noticed this little beaver swimming down the river. Originally I though it was a muskrat it was so small.

Litchfield, CT - I was passing through Litchfield yesterday and I stopped at the Bantam River just long enough to catch this girl taking a relaxing paddle with her dog.

ORIGINAL LITCHFIELD FIREHOUSE

Litchfield, CT – The center of Litchfield had two devastating fires one in 1886 and again in 1888. In 1890 the Litchfield Fire Company was organized. The department started with 44 members and in November 1890 the company had a ladder truck. By 1891 the department grew to 75 members. A water system with hydrants and this new firehouse was donated by J.Deming Perkins. It is situated across from the green and behind the former jail. It had a finished basement, an equipment room on the first floor, a billiard and meeting room on the second floor, and a hospital ward on the third for injured firemen.

The building is now the First National Bank of Litchfield
