Back from the Lodge Meeting

We pass this beaver pond often and I will occasionally see this beaver. When we don't see it, my wife always says, "It's at a lodge meeting". Just in case you don't know, a beaver's house is called a lodge...get it?

I threw these in for some color; they were growing at the edge of the pond.

BEAVERS IN LITCHFIELD

Litchfield, CT - I was driving through "Whites Woods" a nature preserve in Litchfield when I noticed something making waves in the river. I stopped and saw this big beaver swimming. I took a few photos and then I noticed this little beaver swimming down the river. Originally I though it was a muskrat it was so small.

BEAVER HANDIWORK

A few weeks back I took the dogs for a romp and came upon these trees that had been gnawed by a beaver. I find it amazing that a creature can cut a tree down with it's teeth. I did not see the beaver's lodge, I guess it was further down stream.
