Happy Halloween Pumpkins

Westhampton MA - I saw these pumpkins lining the road in Westhampton MA a few days ago and stopped and took a few photos. If you can't read them they spell out H-a-l-l-o-w-e-e-n-m-a-d-n-e-s-s(Halloween Madness).

There was also the BIG pumpkin across the street.

Dyeing Wool at Sturbridge Village

Sturbridge, MA - Last time I went to Sturbridge Village, there was a wool dyeing demo. You can see the fire in the background, look past the turkeys(they begged me to take their photos).

This women was demonstrating how to dye the fabric the same way they did in the 19th century.

Some of the items the dye is made of, various natural ingredients.

Bish Bash Falls Park

Mt. Washington, MA - I stopped quickly at Bish Bash Falls Park to take some foliage photos. I could hear the falls from the top of the mountain. I was going to take a hike down to the water to take a photo of the falls but when I saw how steep it was I decided to take a photo from from the top. I drove down the road, just over the New York border to try for a easier hike in but since I had my dogs with me I used that as an excuse for not spending the time to hike in, maybe next time.

A panoramic view from the top of the mountain.

A photo of falls, I don't believe these are the big falls that people come to see but falls none the less.

A photo from the top of the hill, it was very steep and has big rocks. You can see where they have placed cables, basically guard rails to keep people from going over the cliffs. They are also a good way to pull yourself up the hill. I did go down the hill a bit and used them to pull myself up.

Barb's Baked Goods

Sheffield, MA - As I passed by this shop I said to myself, "This is my kind of place, I have to stop". I walked into the front door and I was taken aback some because I was walking into a living room. Luckily, Deb said hello and brought me into the dining room where the baked good were located.

This is Barb with today's offerings. She told me she gets real busy baking pies for Thanksgiving. So if you are in Sheffield, MA, stop by and have something to eat and a cup of coffee.

You can contact Barb at 413-229-8091 or SheffBarbara@yahoo.com

Ollie the Camel

Ferrisburgh, VT - I was driving down the Rt.7 in Vermont last time I was there and caught an unusual sight out of the corner of my eye, Ollie the Bactrain Camel. I have seen the usual Dromedary Camel, one hump, but never the Bactrain Camel, two hump, and never on a sheep farm in Vermont. Ollie resides on the Round Barn Merino Sheep Farm in Ferrisburgh Vermont. So if you are traveling through Ferrisburgh VT, keep your eyes open for Ollie the Camel.

PBR - Fan of the Night Belt Buckle

Uncasville, CT - Today I went to the Professional Bull Riders(PBR) event at Mohegan Sun Casino. I was not able to take my camera in(even if I could I could not post my photos). Anyway, during the event the Rodeo Clown, not to be confused with the Bull Fighters*, gave away this belt buckle to the, "Fan of the Night". The fan of the night was a sixteen old girl that had a sign that said, "I left my boyfriend home on his birthday to see Clint(clown's name)". I am paraphrasing but you get the gist. I saw the girl outside the arena and asked if I could take a photo of the buckle.

*The Bull Fighters are the guys that protect the bull rider from the bull and help if he is in trouble; they were formerly called Rodeo Clowns. The clown I am referring to is mostly for entertainment.

Granville Lions Car Show

Granville, MA - Today was the Granville Lions Car Show at the Granville Harvest Festival. It is a great show to attend; if your wife is not into cars as much as you she can attend all the other festivities going on. So all you car buffs, plan to attend the show next year and show off your cool car.

Below are some of the cars at the show today. Sorry, I am not very car savvy.

The British Invasion.

The Judge, when I was a teenager this was the hot car.

MG...cool!

New Recruits

Woodbury, CT - I was driving through Woodbury today and noticed these Civil War reenactors at the school. I stopped by and found out this is training for some of the new recruits. I didn't even get their unit number, I just know they are based in Woodbury, CT. They were going through some rifle handling and marching drills.

Sarge here is showing the proper technique to hold a rifle.

Former Hitchcock Chair Company Building

Riverton, CT - This is the former Hitchcock Chair Company building, it is now Riverton Self Storage. I thought they could think of a better use of this building. The building overlooks the Farmington River which is designated a Wild and Scenic river. Every time I visited Hitchcock, I would look out the window and would think that I would love to live here. Well, at least your stuff will have a nice view.
