Goshen Fair 2010

Goshen, CT - We went to the Goshen Fair Labor Day Weekend, here are a few photos I took while there. A sheep taking a rest in the hay.

Super Hero Sheep

Rasta Sheep

Oxen Pull

This is something I have never seen, a pair of Longhorn Oxen.

I never knew that Garden Tractor weight pulling was such a big thing. Here is a whole bunch all lined up read to pull.

A goat in the show ring, playing up to the judge.

Here a cow gets its toe nails polished up before going into the ring.

This women is giving it her all in the chopping contest.

A blacksmith doing some finishing touches to a door handle.

This soldier was playing the bagpipes near the front gate.

Some big pumpkins.

Ollie the Camel

Ferrisburgh, VT - I was driving down the Rt.7 in Vermont last time I was there and caught an unusual sight out of the corner of my eye, Ollie the Bactrain Camel. I have seen the usual Dromedary Camel, one hump, but never the Bactrain Camel, two hump, and never on a sheep farm in Vermont. Ollie resides on the Round Barn Merino Sheep Farm in Ferrisburgh Vermont. So if you are traveling through Ferrisburgh VT, keep your eyes open for Ollie the Camel.

Willow Hill Farm Cheese

Milton, VT - Today I visited Willow Hill Farm where they make cheese from Sheep and Cows milk. It was raining so the photos might be a bit dark

This is the sign at the entrance of the property. It is not easy to find but thanks to Mapquest I was able to find my way. The sign is on the road but the cheese house is 0.4 miles from the road.

Two cheeses that I bought to sample. The one on the left is made from Sheep milk, the dark things on the outside are herbs. On the right is a Blue Cheese made from Sheep's and Cows milk; and it is aged in a cave.

Your cheese selection de jour.

Sheep out to pasture. I noticed that they have a Llama in the field with them to gaurd against dogs or coyotes.

Some of the cows.

In addition, they also sell lamb and pork; some of the pigs in the field.
