Hooping Harmony - Hula Hooping

Hooping Harmony Corp. was started by the mother-daughter team of Ariana Shelton and Laura Marie. Their resumes' are quite impressive, here is the "Reader's Digest" version. Laura Marie, the daughter, is a jewelry designer, inventor/creator, dance teacher, impassioned movement artist, and raw chocolate fairy. Ariana Shelton, is a motivational speaker and workshop leader, a holistic health practitioner, life and spiritual coach. Since childhood she has demonstrated clairvoyance and healing abilities which led to a life path of becoming a Reiki Master. This is just the beginning of their abilities and accomplishments. Go to their website to read the full story at Hooping Harmony

I met this dynamic duo at a company picnic where I tried my luck at "hooping". They gave me Big Bertha or something like that, they have names for some of the hoops. Large hoops are easier to learn on and as their website says, " Size Large is for someone 5' 6" tall or taller or have "generous body proportions" guilty on both counts. Here some of my co-workers are hooping it up. In their pamphlet it says this about hooping, "It will disrupt limiting body patterns and will begin to promote healing and rejuvenation in your body while stimulating greater mental clarity." I am all for that, and you thought it was just for kids.

Check out their website for more information on classes, workshops, hoop jams, and other events at www.hoopingharmony.com

Warning: Hooping has been known to create radical joy, silliness and all over body fitness and well-being.

Info has been shamelessly "borrowed" from their pamphlet.

Grandpa's Homemade Apple Sauce

Waterbury, VT - I was driving through Waterbury Vermont looking for interesting things to take a photo of and I saw a red sign that said, "Applesauce" with an arrow. The sign was just past Ben and Jerry's factory, everyone and his brother that has been in Waterbury has stopped there, but I thought, not many people have gone to wherever, "Applesauce" was.

I followed the red Applesauce signs and came to this sign,Owl's Head Orchard.

>

I went up the driveway and came to this "Stand". A tub with a honor jar to put your money. I grabbed a jar and put my money in the money jar and went back down the drive taking a few photos on the way down(it was raining so you may see a few spots on the lens.

A short time later I sample some of the sauce and found it very good. I was a little surprised with the flavor, without preservatives the color was dark so I expected spices. The ingredients:Apples, and as my Uncle would say, "Nobody else in there". So if you are in Waterbury, VT, take a slight detour to the Owl's Head Orchard and buy a jar of Real Vermont Applesauce to take home..I did. I do have one question, is this Grandpa's recipe or a photo of Grandpa when he was young?

Board Game Social

Richmond, VT - While waiting for the Duck Race to begin I notice that there was going to be a "Board Game Social" at the library; it sounded interesting so I dropped in.

These are all the people that were there. The game de jour was Scrabble. I sat down at the table closest to the camera. I held my own but did not win...again. But it was fun and I met some very nice people. If you live in the area or are visiting, stop by next time they have another Board Game Social.

This is the library when the games were held, it looks like a converted church.

Strolling of the Heifers 2009 - Part II

Brattleboro, VT - Some people in the Strolling of the Heifers parade.

Scarlett walking a fake cow...I was not fooled by the disguise.

This girl walking her heifer which is all decked out with a flowered necklace.

This fairy woman was busy sprinkling everyone with fairy dust.

This red nosed girl looks like she is really enjoying herself; I think she was on a float.

At the end of the parade was a wagon with this guy, I think his name is Alfred. Everyone seems to know of him; that is all I really know. I can tell you one thing, he was really eating up the attention!

More Strolling of the Heifers tomorrow.

CODE TALKERS

Albuquerque, NM - The "Code Talkers" were Navajo Indians that were used by American Forces against the Japanese in World War II. Speaking in the Navajo language and using a code, they were able to communicate with each other quickly and without the Japanese knowing what they were talking about. Since the Navajo had no words for hand grenade or tank, they substituted potato and tortoise.

These code talkers were in front of a book store and were signing books on Code Talkers and photos.

I will be back to New England soon, I just spent a week in Chicago on business and need to check my photos stock.
