FIRST BALLISTIC MISSILE SUBMARINE

 
This is the USS George Washington, at least part of it at the Submarine Force Library and Museum in Groton, CT; it was the first ballistic missile submarine. It was in service from 1959 – 1985. You can see a ballistic missile in the background. Posted by Picasa

Oh my gosh...that is SO scary. You would NEVER catch me on a submarine, especially one carrying a missile like that!!

I'm not a big fan of the ocean. I respect it, but I fear what I can't see beneath my feet (we can thank the movie Jaws for that!)
