My Childrens Photos

I have not posted in a while so I wanted to get something posted so I am posting photos of my "kids".


Thatcher just loves the snow, he is content just laying out in the snow. After a while, with all the snow on him, he looks more like a sheep than a dog.


This is Preston, he just loves eating the leaves of the roses that one of my wife's friends gave to her.



This photo was a joke that I sent to Cindy Biles a clay sculptor that told me that one of my photos was an inspiration for one of her creations. She just finished a series of sculptures of people holding little dogs; not this size. Check out her blog Scroll down about half way downthe page to see the photo that inspired here. This is Cooper, Thatcher's brother. I tried to pick up Thatcher but he was too fast.

Got Some Snow Last Night

We got a few inches of wet snow last night, just enough to frost the trees and a little on the ground. Above is our snow frosted dogwood and below is some snow balancing on a branch.

Winter or Autumn

Last night we had our first snow...it is still Autumn so we are not ready for snow. Here are a few photos I took this morning showing both Autumn and Winter.

Snow Puppies

Here are my two dogs Cooper(left)and Thatcher playing out in the snow we had yesterday. Well, they took time out to mug it up for the camera.

A sunny spot in the woods.

Deer Tracks

I took the "boys" out for a romp today in the woods and due to the hard icy snow with just a coating of powdery snow, animal tracks showed up nicely. Here are some deer tracks that we saw on our walk.

Snowy Woods

Here is a photo of the snowy wood. I walk my dogs along this trail quite often.

FOX TRACKS?

I was out walking the dogs and I noticed these tracks which had crossed the road. Judging from the size and they way they looped around, farther in the woods, I figured they were fox tracks. It looks like he was looking for mice in the snow.

BOBCAT TRACKS

Today we were out walking our dogs and we came across these tracks that I believe are Bobcat tracks in the snow. Actually it appears that he walked across the snow when it was raining and they are now frozen in the ice.

SUGAR FROSTED TREES

The snow on the trees makes them seem like they are sugar frosted.

SNOW SCULPTURE DOG

Granby, CT - This snow sculpture is at the place where we take our dogs to Doggy Day Care once a week, they love it! When I dropped them off yesterday I saw this sculpture, but did I have my camera? Noooooooo. Unfortuately, it was still kind of dark when I took these photos. I must carry my camera at all times! The day before I saw a River Otter in Bloomfield on the skating pond, again no camera.

SNOWY DOGWOOD

After yesterday's snowstorm I took this photo out my front door of the dogwod tree in our front yard.

HOLLY BERRIES IN SNOW

Today we had more snow, after some warm days last week. I went out to snowblow and noticed these Holly Berries sticking out of the snow. They look a little worse for the wear but you get the main idea.

SNOWY BIKE TRAIL

Simsbury, CT - I took a ride over to Simsbury today and took a few photos of the Walking/Bile Trail. It looked more suitable to the Iditarod than a walking trail. I wonder if someone supposed to plow it?

WHITE NEW YEARS

This photo was taken out my backdoor today, New Years Day. My two dogs Sophie and Thatcher just love the snow, especially Sophie.

OLD SALTBOX IN SNOW

Following the "In the Snow" theme, this is an old saltbox house built in 1770 and was previously either a law office, a doctor's office or both; the facts are not quite clear. But it was one of those. As noted in my previous posting, small houses like this usually don't last as long as the colonials. But, since this was the office of a wealthy person, the house was made with better materials. The floors are chestnut both up and down. That is another thing, sometimes the upstairs floors are pine and the downstairs are hardwood because they would get more use.

OLD COLONIAL IN SNOW

This is a colonial style house that you would see all over New England. Most of this style house were built in the 18th century. This would have been built by a wealthier family. You will see a lot more of these Colonial style houses than say a Cape style house because these people could afford better materials and could afford to pay craftsman to build their house. The floors would be made of Maple, Chestnut, Oak or other hard woods. A much simpler house might be built with more pine and the craftsmanship might not be as good thus might not be around today.

SNOW BENCH

I bet you thought I was lost in the wilds of Borneo or something...no, just real busy at work and the like. I just HAD to post something so I went out this morning a took a few photos around my house so would have something to post. We had quite the storm a few days ago and everything is covered in over a foot of snow. For the next few day I will post a few photos I took today.

APRIL STORM

We just stayed inside yesterday because the weather was just yucky(technical term). I took some photos in my backyard after the snow and during the start of the rain.
