Bees and Butterflies

Today I went out to our flower garden and photographed some Bees and Butterflies on our flowers.

I am happy to say that I have been seeing more of these Honey Bees this year. The last ten years or so their numbers have been declining. Hopefully, they are making a come-back.
Bumble Bees are here also, I think they have been doing the Honey Bees job, pollinating, when the Honey Bees have been away.

Butterflies were also doing their pollinating thing. Butterfly 1.

Back from the Lodge Meeting

We pass this beaver pond often and I will occasionally see this beaver. When we don't see it, my wife always says, "It's at a lodge meeting". Just in case you don't know, a beaver's house is called a lodge...get it?

The beaver cruising next to his dam.

I threw these in for some color; they were growing at the edge of the pond.

My Childrens Photos

I have not posted in a while so I wanted to get something posted so I am posting photos of my "kids".

Thatcher just loves the snow, he is content just laying out in the snow. After a while, with all the snow on him, he looks more like a sheep than a dog.

This is Preston, he just loves eating the leaves of the roses that one of my wife's friends gave to her.

This photo was a joke that I sent to Cindy Biles a clay sculptor that told me that one of my photos was an inspiration for one of her creations. She just finished a series of sculptures of people holding little dogs; not this size. Check out her blog Scroll down about half way downthe page to see the photo that inspired here. This is Cooper, Thatcher's brother. I tried to pick up Thatcher but he was too fast.

DEWEY FLOWER FARM

Simsbury, CT - I stopped by Dewey's Flower Farm on the way home a few weeks ago. It is a Mom and Pop operation run by a couple that appeared like they had been doing this for a long time.

This is one side of the stand.

I originally was looking for Sunflowers but it was slim pickings, they explained that it was at the end of the season.Instead I bought some of these white flowers called, "Beauty of the Veldt". I was told they lasted a very long time in the vase; they did not last quite that long...my cat thought it great fun to eat them.

Along with the flowers they also had melons(I posted some peppers from here a few days ago).

SIMSBURY FLOWER BRIDGE

Simsbury, CT - I drive near this bridge every morning so one day I decided to stop and take a few photos. I took a photos of this bridge a few years ago but it is always beautiful so it is worth another look.

Here is the view from the side.

On one end of the bridge is a donation box if you would like to contribute to the upkeep.

This flower box had a flag in it adding more color.

RIVERHOUSE FOOTBRIDGE

Camden, ME - These are photos of the Riverhouse Footbridge in Camden Maine. It is in front of the Riverhouse Hotel, where I just read is pet friendly for all you dog lovers.

On the sign in the back is a sign that has the date 1953, so I assume that is how old this bridge is. It is just covered with flowers and vegetables.

There are a few of these hanging tomato plants.

While taking these photos my brother and sister in laws, who we went to Maine with, just happened to be coming from the other side.

ROADSIDE ARRANGEMENTS

On the way to my nieces graduation party I stopped to pick up a flower arrangement for her. Five dollars..cheap! Hey, it's the thought that counts and they are just as fragrant as the expensive flower shop, maybe more, they're fresh.
My brother asked me if I stopped off at the cemetery and picked up the flowers...every one's a comedian.

VIOLETS

I believe these are wild violets. I took this photo in the woods near a river. I was reading about "Wild Violets" and from the sound of them they sound like one step above poison ivy. I guess they are nice in the woods but have a habit of taking over your lawn. So, enjoy the photos or in the woods but keep them away from your lawn.

FURRY FIDDLEHEADS

Early Spring is when the fiddlehead ferns start to come out. These seem exceptionally furry.
