Living Machine Green Waste Management

Last week we took a trip up to Vermont. We stopped at the first rest area on Route 89, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rest Stop. In the back of the rest area is this room containing these tanks with plants growing from them. These together make the Living Machine Waste Management System. All the waste water from the rest stop gets purified in these tanks.

This is one of the tanks, each one has a particular job to do in the process.

There is a walkway around the room so you can see each tank, also there are signs explains the each process is; this sign give the system layout.

We love these photos--and want to visit there on our next jaunt to VT. We were going to VT today but decided it is so cold we may as well just stay put. Thanks for sharing this!
