PINE BURL

One day while walking my dogs I spotted this burl on a pine tree. What really caught my eye was the size in relation to the tree. The tree was about a foot in diameter. I've seen bigger burls but not on such a narrow tree.

I have heard that people can collect the burls off of their trees and get good money for them. I wonder if it is true. I wonder how I could remove the burls without damaging the tree. This is a great photo of one.
