CAFÉ AT 64 MAIN

Winsted, CT – My wife and I stopped in to this café because we saw that they had ice cream. When inside we discovered cozy café with a very eclectic décor; it seemed like this place would be good for everyone.

This is the front of the building blends with the other building so it could be easily missed. The building is from 1880, the first use was the Mechanics Bank. Around 1926 Dr. English started a medical practice, followed by Dr. Downing and then Dr. Smith until 1976. Various other businesses occupied the building until 2005.

I grew up in Colebrook, and I'm not sure, but I think this cafe is where a retail clothing shop by the unfortunate name of "Getting Off" used to be. Anyway, next time I visit Winsted I'll be sure to stop by. It looks great.
