PROPER DISPOSAL OF THE AMERICAN FLAG

A few days ago I dropped my old American Flag in this box in front of the American Legion in North Granby, CT. This way the flag will be disposed of properly. I found this bit in the USA Flag site.
US Flag Code. TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k). It states:
"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning" Posted by Picasa

Kudos to you for posting this picture, and these sentiments about the American Flag.

Our town created a box like this for people to drop off their flags when they need to be properly disposed.

Wow. That's really interesting!

Yesterday in the change room at the pool, I noticed that a fellow had a beach towel printed to look like a Canadian flag, and I wondered if that sort of thing would fly in the States.

You know ... this is one of the things I wish us Canadians were more like you Americans. Never knew about this before, but I should have guessed it.
