SCREECH RUM

I took this photo at Mystic Seaport, it is of an old bottle of rum. The reason I took the photo is that someone at work mentioned that run was also called Screech. The way it looks is that screech is a kind of rum (rhum). Maybe a sailors favorite?

Anyone know the real story?

Hi Bill. Ask Fred R if he ran across any Screech Rum/Rhum while in Newfoundland this month. ("Newfoundland" appears on the bottle's label.) Maybe Fred went to a museum in Newfoundland? Or perhaps he ran across some piece of trivia related to Screech while there?

I looked at the history of screech in Newfoundland, it is rum imported from Jamaica. An interesting history behind the name, look it up on Google
