RISING PAPER MILL
Housatonic MA – This paper mill was built in the late 1800’s as the Rising Paper Mill. It is now owned by the Fox River Paper Company. In 1975 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places because it is a unique example of Victorian Industrial Architecture with its twin towers and mansard roof. I’m afraid the photo doesn’t do it justice; I could not get in a safe place to take a photo. I was struck with how ornate this factory is. On the paper mills website it explains how they draw water from 800 feet down from a limestone water table. Using that water they are able to make pure museum quality paper without the use of alum.

Looks like the mill has an interesting history, Looks like you have lots of snow, all our snow has has gone, even on the hills around here, the snow is melting and the lakes are all ice free, seems like spring is here.
