GRAVE OF VETERAN OF QUEEN ANNE’S WAR

Wethersfield, CT - This is a gravestone of Capt. Samuel Wolcott who fought in the Queen Anne's War (1702 - 1713). It was the second of the French and Indian Wars and began May 4, 1702. Something of note, in 1704 the French and Algonquian Indians attacked Deerfield, MA, killing 50 men, women, and children and carrying off 100 more after burning the town to the ground.
