ACUPUNCTURE DOG

Granby, CT - I have been bringing my dog Thatcher to "Frontier Medicine for Animals" for acupuncture and chiropractic treatments to treat his Hydrocephalus (Water-on-the-brain). The Vets at Frontier Medicine for Animals treat with alternative therapies, acupuncture and chiropractic. I noticed Thatcher seems to be getting better even after one treatment last week; I just hope he can continue getting better to at least to the level he was a few months ago.

The Vets office.

Inside is a very comfortable waiting room with a soft couch, oriental rugs on the floor, and Buddhist prayer flags in the window.

Dr. Amy Matthews VMD Phd. is watching Thatcher after placing the acupuncture needles in specific locations to help him with his ailment. I am not sure how the "magic" works but hey, after thousand of years of treating over a billion patients, it must have something to it. So I hope these treatments get his "chi" in order so he can get on with his life.

I addition to the acupuncture he also gets some chiropractic treatments done. Here Dr. Matthews works on Thatcher's neck with the help of her assistant Wendi.

NEW BOSTON INN

New Boston, MA - The New Boston Inn was built in 1737 and opened as an inn in 1760. The inn is haunted by a ghost named "Harriet" who was killed by a jilted lover in an upstairs bedroom. The ghost is real enough to be reported in Yankee Magazine and "Ghost Hunters" on the Sci-Fi channel.

Celebrities have stopped by the Inn Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were ofter spotted in the pub; even Bing Crosby stopped by occasionally. Ann Linbergh wrote her memoirs here.

This is one of the dining rooms.

THINGS HAVEN'T BEEN GOOD

Things haven't been too good around here lately and I haven't felt like blogging too much. A few weeks ago I got laid off from my job and the same day I brought my dogs to the vet and found out one of my dogs has an enlarged heart and the other has some kind of neurological problem and can hardly walk or even stand up on his own.

This is Thatcher, who is not even two, today he is having a good day; he has been walking around the yard without falling down.

Here you can see where he had his neck shaved to have a spinal tap. I brought him to a specialist but they cannot figure out what is wrong. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed that he can get better or at least not any worse. The hard part is I have to carry him up and down our 25 inch stairway(he weighs between 80 and 85 pounds) and bring him outside. Once outside he does better because he can get a grip so he can walk.

This is Sophie, she has the enlarged heart and rests a lot. But, all you have to do is ask her if she wants to go for a ride or go to day care and she perks right up. She looks a little disheveled because she likes to be outside and sometimes she is lying in the wet grass.
