THE OLD OUT HOUSE

I took a photo of this old out house thinking it would make a great black and white photo. I wasn't sure until I stepped back from the PC; this photo has to be viewed from a distance. To me it almost looks surreal. What do you think?

CAFÉ AT 64 MAIN

Winsted, CT – My wife and I stopped in to this café because we saw that they had ice cream. When inside we discovered cozy café with a very eclectic décor; it seemed like this place would be good for everyone.

This is the front of the building blends with the other building so it could be easily missed. The building is from 1880, the first use was the Mechanics Bank. Around 1926 Dr. English started a medical practice, followed by Dr. Downing and then Dr. Smith until 1976. Various other businesses occupied the building until 2005.

CAFÉ AT 64 MAIN

Winsted CT - The restaurant is basically in three rooms. This is the front room, the one you first come into. It has memorabilia on the walls but doesn’t feel cluttered as you might think. It actually has a very comfortable relaxing feel to it.

The lunch menu has a large number of exotic sounding sandwiches, wraps, and salads. I think they would have something for everyone. They even have a selection of sandwiches on Grilled Tandoori Naan (Indian bread). They also serve dinner, I saw a Pork Loin Special on the board when I was there. Next time I go there I think I will have a Cyclone sandwich. Click here for Lunch menu and dinner menu

The next room is the coffee and ice cream room. They have a full service Espresso bar, with all your favorite espresso drinks. For all you people visiting from Brooklyn, they have authentic Egg Cream made with U-Bet syrup. Also on the menu are Italian and French sodas

This is the last room which follows the feel of the rest of the restaurant. There is art displayed from students of Northwestern Connecticut Community College. Overall it looks like a great place to hang out and enjoy a meal or just relax with a latte. On Friday nights they have music and I’m not sure what night but they have “Open Mike” night.

APPLE AND ANTS

This just goes to show I will photograph just about anything, but for some reason I like it. There is a funny story with this photo. I bent down to get a close-up of the apple and when I looked up there was a State Trooper's car stopped to see what I was doing. I bet he was thinking, this guy will photograph anything! Posted by Picasa

CAN'T THERE FROM HERE

I saw this sign on one of trips. It is probably used in other parts of the country but around here it comes from a N.E. joke to long to print here. Posted by Picasa

AUTUMN POND

Bloomfield, CT - I was sitting at a traffic light this morning and I looked over and saw this sight. I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos before the light changed. We are getting to the end of the foliage season, we had rain and a wind storm that removed many of the leaves around my house.

Granville, MA - Try one or try all; apples are here for the eating. This stand is only two houses away from my house. In fact, two houses the other way is another orchard. I have at least five orchands within a mile of my house. Posted by Picasa

CHIEF KONKAPOT FOUNTAIN

Lee, MA - This fountain is on the green in Lee Massachusetts. I took this photo of the front of the statue and when I researched it I found that the interesting part is on the back. So I went back and photographed the back on Sunday.

Instead of writing about this fountain myself, I found this great write up at this website. CLICK HEREPosted by Picasa

Lee MA - Here is a close-up of Chief Konkapot's face. With the waterstains it look like he has chewed too much tobacco. Posted by Picasa

This is the back of the fountain and it has this inscription:
"This Fountain Was Begun By the Loyal Temperance Union under the leadership of Amelia Jeannette Kilbon and Was completed by other friends as a tribute to her memory. 1870 - 1897." Posted by Picasa

AUTUMN RAINBOW

It was rainy and windy all day. I was driving home and the sun started to peak out behind the clouds and illuminated the hillside and out popped a rainbow.

PUBLICK HOUSE SCARECROW CONTEST

Sturbridge, MA - Keeping with the Scarecrow contest theme, here are some scarecrows in front of the Publick House Inn in Sturbridge MA.

This guy is reminiscent of the bunny in Monty Python's Holy Grail. Posted by Picasa

Publick House Scarecrow Contest - Sturbridge MA - Bear Trouble! The thing that bothers me is; shouldn't the kid be in the tent and the bear sticking his head in to steal the Doritos? In this photo it looks like the kid has met an untimely end. Posted by Picasa

COOPER'S HAWK

Bloomfield, CT - On the way into the office this morning I looked up and this hawk was sitting on the roof about twenty feet away. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a few shots before he flew off. He has been on patrol the last few days looking for some birds to eat. Posted by Picasa
